Cathy Reynolds
was born in
Great Falls, Montana in May of 1963. Her
grandfather was a Christian Missionary Alliance pastor so she had the privilege
of being in church all of her life. She
was six years old when she understood that being in church wasn’t enough and
that she needed to have Jesus living in her heart in order to go to heaven.
Her mom helped her say the prayer and she was baptized by her
grandfather. Most of her childhood
memories are very vague but she clearly remembers asking Jesus to come and live
in her heart and being baptized. Her
family moved from Southern California in 1972 when she was nine.
She attended Palo Verde Christian School from the fourth to the ninth
grade when health problems forced her to home school.
She began piano lessons when she was twelve and by the time she was in
college she was playing for eight hours a day.
She went to Southwestern Bible College and the University of Arizona for
one semester each. She accompanied
vocal students, played for church and chapel and enjoyed it very much but
ultimately decided that college wasn’t where she wanted to be.
She wanted to be married. (She
wanted to be married to Ross.) Before
the two semesters of college, her family had been attending Del Norte Baptist
Church. She was out on a date with Bob Wentzel when she met Ross.
When she got home that evening she woke her mom to tell her that she met
the man she was going to marry. November
3rd, 2008 they will celebrate their 24th anniversary.
Cathy and Ross have served
in a number of churches in various capacities.
The Awana program at Del Norte, the drama team at Mountain View Baptist
Church, Choir Director and Music Director at Northwest Baptist Church.
She directed two Christmas and two Easter Musicals. She
began singing solos at that time and discovered she loved it.
God then moved them to help start a new church, God’s
Country, where Ross was the Music Director. Following
the Lord’s leading once again, Cathy and Ross formed “One Spirit” along
with Bob Wentzel.
